AI Architect Resume Example
Updated · By the OneTwo Resume editorial team · Salary data: BLS OES, May 2025
An AI Architect resume has to show judgment. Anyone can list model names and cloud services. A hiring manager wants to see what you decided, what you gave up, and what happened next. Open with your cloud platforms, the kinds of AI workloads you design, and the number of teams that build on your work. This role is also posted as AI solutions architect, and the two titles describe the same job: turning business use cases into a working, secure, affordable design that teams can build and run.
Write bullets with scale, standard and outcome. Scale is the number of teams, use cases, documents, features or requests your architecture served. Standard is the reference architecture, review gate or security control you designed to. Outcome is a shorter launch time, a spend figure held to forecast, a use case that passed privacy review, or a platform component adopted by other teams. A bullet that says "designed AI solutions for the enterprise" gives a manager nothing to test. A bullet that names the shared retrieval service, the access rules it enforced and the launch time it shortened gives them a real conversation.
Group your skills the way architect postings are written. Platform skills: model serving, retrieval-augmented generation, agent workflows, vector search, evaluation and monitoring. Data skills: pipelines, feature management, lineage, data contracts and quality checks. Infrastructure skills: AWS or Azure services, Kubernetes, MLflow, and the managed model services your teams use. Governance skills: privacy by design, access control, red-team testing, model risk review and human oversight. Business skills: cost modelling, vendor and model selection, and stakeholder alignment. An AI solutions architect who can write all of this in plain terms is easy to place.
Be careful about depth. Architects are expected to be broad, but a resume that claims expert hands-on work in every layer reads as inflated. Say where you coded, where you reviewed, and where you set direction. If you led an architecture board or wrote decision records, say so. If a design was never built, do not present it as shipped. Hiring managers will ask what failed, so choose bullets you can discuss openly, including trade-offs such as cost against accuracy or speed against control.
If you are moving up from data engineering, ML engineering or cloud architecture, lead with the cross-team work: the standard you wrote, the review you ran, the platform other teams adopted. Keep the resume to two pages, put the most recent platform work first, and keep diagrams and links in a portfolio the interviewer can open later.

What Hiring Managers Actually Look For
When a hiring manager reads an AI Architect resume, the first check is breadth with proof. Have you designed for model serving, retrieval, data pipelines, security and cost, or only one of them? The second check is adoption: did other teams use your reference architecture, or did it sit in a document? Numbers such as teams served, use cases launched and time to launch carry weight.
They then look for decision quality. Strong candidates describe a vendor or model choice with the criteria used, the test set, and the exit plan. They show how privacy, security and responsible-AI review fit into delivery rather than slow it down. They can explain cost drivers such as token volume, retrieval size and idle capacity.
Expect a design interview. You may be asked to sketch a RAG platform for a regulated business, defend a build-versus-buy call, or explain how you would monitor an agent that takes actions. Resume bullets that map to those questions prepare you. Also expect questions on influence: how you handled a team that rejected your standard, and how you documented the decision afterward.
Your Opening Pitch
AI Architect with 9 years in data and cloud engineering, the last 4 designing enterprise AI platforms. Defines reference architectures for model serving, retrieval-augmented generation and agent workloads on AWS and Azure, with Kubernetes, MLflow and a governed data layer underneath. Runs vendor and model selection, cost modelling and responsible-AI review gates for 20 product teams. Recent work standardized a shared RAG platform that cut time to launch a new assistant from 14 weeks to 5 and held inference spend 30% under the first forecast.

Bullet Points That Land
Authored reference architectures for model serving, RAG and agent workloads used by 20 product teams, covering gateway, retrieval, evaluation and logging layers, which cut time to launch a new assistant from 14 weeks to 5.
Designed a shared retrieval platform over 40 million document chunks with access-aware filtering, so each answer respected source permissions and passed the security team's data classification review.
Built a cost model for model inference, embeddings and vector storage across 12 use cases, then set routing between large and small models that held monthly spend 30% below the initial forecast.
Ran vendor and model selection for three hosted model providers using a weighted scorecard of accuracy on 500 internal test cases, latency, data terms, cost and exit options, and documented the decision for the architecture board.
Established responsible-AI review gates in the delivery process, with privacy impact checks, red-team testing and human-oversight sign-off, and moved 11 use cases through review with no post-launch incident escalations.
Specified data and feature pipelines on Databricks and Snowflake with data contracts, lineage and freshness checks, giving ML teams one governed source for 60 shared features.
Led architecture reviews with security, legal, data and product leads, resolved competing constraints in written decision records, and kept 8 platform components on one roadmap with agreed owners.
Set up an evaluation and monitoring standard on MLflow with offline test sets, drift alerts and cost dashboards, so every production model had a named owner and a retraining or retirement trigger.
Bullet Point Formula: Start with a strong action verb, describe the task, and end with a measurable result. Example from this role: "Authored reference architectures for model serving, RAG and agent workloads used by 20 product teams..."

Frequently Asked Questions
What should an AI architect resume include?
Include a summary with your cloud platforms, the AI workloads you design and the number of teams you serve, experience bullets showing scale, standard and outcome, a skills section grouped by platform, data, infrastructure and governance, and any certification. Add links to published reference designs only if they contain nothing confidential.
What skills should I put on an AI architect resume?
Group them by architecture, data, infrastructure and governance. Typical items include reference architecture, model serving, RAG and agent design, vector search, data pipelines, AWS or Azure services, Kubernetes, MLflow, security and privacy design, cost modelling, vendor selection and responsible-AI review. List what you can defend in a design interview.
How do I write bullet points for an AI architect resume?
Start with a verb such as designed, defined or standardized, then give the scale, the standard and the outcome. Name the reference architecture, how many teams or use cases used it, and what improved, such as launch time or spend against forecast. The examples here are illustrations, so use your own real figures.
How do I become an AI architect with no direct experience?
Most people arrive from data engineering, ML engineering, cloud architecture or software architecture. Show that you have designed systems with security, cost and data constraints, then add a documented AI project such as a RAG service with an evaluation set. Be clear about which parts you built and which you only designed.
Do I need a degree or certification to be an AI architect?
Postings typically ask for a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, plus years in architecture or engineering. Cloud certifications are common, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or the Azure AI and architect certifications. They help, but shipped designs and adoption matter more.
How can I make my AI architect resume stand out?
Show decisions and adoption. Name the reference architecture, the teams that used it, the review gates you built and the cost or launch-time result. Include one example where you rejected an option and why. Keep the language plain, avoid claiming expertise in every layer, and make your senior-level cross-team influence visible.
Is an AI solutions architect the same as an AI architect?
Usually yes. Companies use AI architect and AI solutions architect for the same work: designing AI systems that meet business, security and cost needs. Some use solutions architect for customer-facing or pre-sales design and architect for internal platform design, so read the posting and mirror its wording.
