Jobscan Review (2026): Pricing, Complaints, Verdict

Last updated October 17, 2026 · By Andrew Johnson · OneTwo Resume editorial team

The short answer

Jobscan is the most detailed resume-to-job-description match report you can buy, and its free plan (5 scans a month) is genuinely useful. Paid access is $49.95 a month or $89.95 every 3 months after a 7-day trial, which is steep for a short search, and the most common complaints are about trial billing and auto-renewal. Pick it if you will apply widely to ATS-screened corporate roles and do your own editing; pick a builder that rewrites the resume for you if you want the fixing done rather than diagnosed.

Method and disclosure: we make OneTwo Resume, a competing resume builder, so read this as a rival's review. Every price was read from Jobscan's own pricing page and is dated; user complaints are paraphrased from the aggregate review pages listed under Sources, with the date we read them. We do not give Jobscan a star rating of our own. No affiliate links, no paid placement.

Jobscan overview

Jobscan is a Seattle-based web app built around one idea: paste your resume and a job description, and get a match rate plus a report of what is missing. The report lists hard and soft skills from the posting with how often each appears in the job description versus your resume, flags formatting and section issues it associates with applicant tracking systems, and adds "recruiter findings" such as measurable results and job-title match. Jobscan scores on a 1 to 100% scale and recommends aiming for 75% or higher.

Around that scanner Jobscan has built a wider kit: an AI optimizer that rewrites bullets toward the posting, an AI cover letter generator, a LinkedIn profile optimizer, a job tracker with a Chrome extension that captures postings from job boards, a basic resume builder, and paid add-ons such as auto-apply credits and interview practice. It is web-only: we found no Jobscan app on the App Store or Google Play, and several AI features are marked desktop only on its plan page.

The important limit is the one Jobscan's own wording implies. The match rate measures keyword and skill coverage against one posting; it is not the score any employer's ATS gives you, because ATS products do not publish one and most do not compute one. A 75% match means your resume uses most of the posting's language, not that a filter will pass it.

What Jobscan does well

  • Depth of the match report. No other tool we track shows as much per posting: skill-by-skill counts, which terms are missing, which appear in the job description more often than in your resume, plus formatting and recruiter checks in one view. If you want to see exactly why a resume and a posting diverge, this is the strongest report available.
  • A real free tier. 5 scans a month with ATS and recruiter findings is enough to check your top applications properly, which is more than most competitors give away. We ranked it the best free match report in our free ATS checker comparison.
  • Synonym and priority handling. The paid plans include a keyword synonym detector and rank skills by how much the posting emphasizes them, which reduces the crude exact-phrase matching that older scanners were criticized for.
  • LinkedIn and workflow tools. The LinkedIn optimizer, the job tracker and the Chrome extension make Jobscan a hub for a high-volume search rather than a one-off check.
  • Plenty of satisfied users. Positive Trustpilot reviews repeatedly credit the keyword analysis with getting resumes past screening, and several reviewers say they came back to it for a second or third job search.

Jobscan pricing, as read on October 17, 2026

Read from Jobscan's pricing page on October 17, 2026. Prices change; check the page before you pay.

PlanPrice as shownWhat it adds
Free$0, forever5 resume scans a month, 5 ATS and recruiter findings, job tracker, resume builder and manager, Chrome extension
Quarterly$89.95 every 3 months (shown as $29.98 per month), after a 7-day free trialUnlimited scans and findings, AI optimizations, AI cover letters and bullets, LinkedIn optimizer (after the trial), AI job match, keyword synonym detector, 2 auto-apply credits a month
Monthly$49.95 every month, no trialSame features as Quarterly, LinkedIn optimizer from day one

Trial terms. The free trial applies only to the quarterly plan. If you do not cancel within 7 days, the full $89.95 is charged for the next three months. Jobscan's cancellation policy also describes a card pre-authorization at sign-up that is refunded, which explains some of the "charged during my trial" complaints below.

Renewal and refunds. Both paid plans renew until cancelled. Cancelling moves you back to Free when the current period ends and does not refund anything automatically. Refunds are considered only if you ask within 2 calendar days of a billing period starting and have not used the service in that period, and a 3.5% fee is deducted. Set a calendar reminder on day 5 of the trial if you are testing it.

Prices match what our OneTwoResume vs Jobscan and Jobscan alternatives pages recorded in September 2026; Jobscan has not changed them since.

What users complain about

As read on these dates: Trustpilot showed TrustScore 4.3 from 345 reviews on October 17, 2026. The themes below recur across those reviews.

  • Trial and renewal billing is the loudest theme. Reviewers describe a card charge attempt within the first day of the 7-day trial, a quarterly charge when they believed they had picked one month ("they toke 3 months payment", September 2026), and renewals with no reminder email beforehand. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
  • Low match rates that feel punitive. One reviewer said the scanner "kept giving me a score under 40%" over a single skill phrased differently from the posting; another said every CV, however written, "will show low rate". The complaint is that the number pushes you toward paying rather than explaining what actually matters. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
  • AI rewrites that hurt the resume. Reviewers report the optimizer made a resume "word salad", ran "too wordy" for a human reader, broke the layout, or made "many mistakes in interpreting professional terms" in a specialist field (October 2026). (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
  • Support during outages. One paying user wrote that scanning had not worked for a month, that live chat went unanswered and that replies were canned. Trustpilot's own profile notes Jobscan has replied to 60% of negative reviews. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)

How OneTwo Resume compares

Jobscan and OneTwo Resume answer different questions. Jobscan diagnoses: it tells you, in more detail than anything else, how your resume lines up with one posting, and leaves most of the editing to you (its AI optimizer helps, with the mixed results reviewers describe). OneTwo Resume builds: building and editing a resume is free, every resume gets an ATS score in the builder, and Pro rewrites the resume to a specific job description.

Where Jobscan is better

  • Match-report depth. Our free resume checker grades the document itself (formatting, section structure, keywords and content quality); it does not produce Jobscan's skill-by-skill comparison against a posting. If the report is what you want, Jobscan wins.
  • LinkedIn optimization and job tracking. We do not have a LinkedIn optimizer or a Chrome extension job tracker.
  • Free scans against a real posting. Jobscan's 5 free scans a month compare your resume with an actual job description; our free tier checks the resume on its own.

Where OneTwo Resume is better

  • The fix, not just the diagnosis. Tailoring in Pro rewrites the resume to the posting, so you are not translating a gap report into edits yourself.
  • Short-search pricing. Pro is $9.99 for two weeks or $14.99 a month, with no quarterly commitment and no trial that converts into a three-month bill; new accounts see $4.99 for two weeks or $7.49 for the first month during their first 72 hours (our pricing page).
  • Uncapped free checking. Our checker has no monthly scan cap; a free account unlocks the full breakdown.

Be aware of our own limits too: PDF download, every template, cover letters and AI tailoring are in Pro, not the free tier. A sensible pairing for a careful applicant is to spend Jobscan's free scans on your most important postings and use a builder for the rewriting. Disclosure, again: we make OneTwo Resume.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Jobscan free?

Partly. Jobscan's Free plan is $0 forever and includes 5 resume scans a month against a job description, capped at 5 ATS and recruiter findings per scan, plus a job tracker, a basic resume builder and a Chrome extension (plan page read October 17, 2026). Unused free scans do not roll over past the cap. Unlimited scans, AI optimization, the cover letter generator and the LinkedIn optimizer are paid.

How much does Jobscan cost?

As read on Jobscan's plan page on October 17, 2026: $49.95 billed every month, or $89.95 billed every 3 months (shown as $29.98 per month) after a 7-day free trial. There is no annual plan and no one-off purchase, so the cheapest paid path is the quarterly plan.

Is Jobscan accurate?

Jobscan accurately measures what it measures: how closely the words and skills in your resume match one job description, plus formatting checks it associates with applicant tracking systems. It is not a replica of any employer's ATS, and the match rate is Jobscan's own score. Jobscan recommends aiming for 75% or higher; treat that as a keyword-coverage target, not a pass mark, and do not add skills you cannot back up in an interview.

How do I cancel Jobscan?

Open the Account Details page in Jobscan and use the Cancel Plan button (if you paid by card), or email support@jobscan.co. To avoid the quarterly charge, cancel before the 7-day trial ends. After cancelling, the account drops to the Free plan when the current billing period ends; cancelling does not refund anything automatically. Jobscan's policy only considers refunds requested within 2 calendar days of a billing period starting, for unused periods, minus a 3.5% fee.

Does Jobscan have a mobile app?

Not as of October 17, 2026: we found no Jobscan app on the App Store or Google Play. Jobscan is a web app with a Chrome extension, and its plan page marks AI optimizations, the bullet point generator and the LinkedIn optimizer as desktop only.

Is Jobscan worth it?

Worth it if you are applying to many keyword-screened corporate roles, want a detailed match report for each posting and will edit the resume yourself. Less so if you need the resume written or rewritten for you, or if your search will be over in a couple of weeks: the cheapest paid option is a three-month bill. Start with the 5 free scans a month before paying.
