Resume.io Review (2026): Pricing, Complaints, Verdict
Last updated October 17, 2026 · By Andrew Johnson · OneTwo Resume editorial team
The short answer
Resume.io is a fast, polished resume builder with recruiter-tested templates, a free ATS checker and a cheap way in: a $2.95 7-day trial. That trial auto-renews to $29.95 every 4 weeks, refunds stop after 7 days, and billing after attempted cancellation is the main complaint on its Trustpilot page. Pick it if you want a great-looking resume this week and will cancel on time; pick something else if you want free downloads or would rather not manage a renewal.
Method and disclosure: we make OneTwo Resume, a competing resume builder, so read this as a rival's review. Every price was read from Resume.io's own pricing page and is dated; user complaints are paraphrased from the aggregate review pages listed under Sources, with the date we read them. We do not give Resume.io a star rating of our own. No affiliate links, no paid placement.
Resume.io overview
Resume.io is an online resume and cover letter builder. Its help center dates the service to 2013 and says it is translated into more than 20 languages; local brands run under other domains, and premium accounts are now "powered by career.io", which adds a job board, a job tracker with a Chrome extension, AI interview practice and career-path tools to the dashboard.
The core product is a guided builder: you pick a template, fill in sections with prompts and pre-written phrases, and download a designed PDF or Word file. Its AI builder lets you upload an existing resume or describe your experience (including by voice), pulls key skills from a pasted job description, and drafts a cover letter. A separate free ATS checker runs 16 checks on an uploaded PDF or DOCX and gives a completeness score, plus a job-match score when you add a posting.
It is aimed at people who want a clean, conventional resume quickly and are happy to pay for a short burst of access. It is a mass-market tool: the template pages show millions of users per design, and its Trustpilot profile has one of the largest review counts in the category.
What Resume.io does well
Templates that look professional and parse cleanly. The template library is the product's best part: the help center counts 30+ resume templates with matching cover letter designs, and the gallery labels several explicitly as ATS designs (Prime ATS, Pure ATS, Simple ATS, Precision ATS, Header ATS, Two column ATS). Many are offered as both PDF and DOCX, which matters when an employer asks for Word.
Speed. The builder is quick to learn. Reviewers on Trustpilot repeatedly describe it as easy and intuitive, and the pre-written phrases and spell check get a first draft done in one sitting.
A free ATS check. The resume checker does not require a subscription and explains what is missing in plain steps, not just a number.
Job-description matching built in. Paste a posting and the AI builder suggests the skills and keywords to add, which covers the basic tailoring most applicants skip.
Cancellation without logging in. Its help center documents a cancel option on the contact page that only needs your email address, which is more than many subscription builders offer. A 7-day money back guarantee is printed on every paid plan.
Extras for a long search. Premium includes the job tracker, interview practice and job board at no extra cost, so a subscriber gets more than a document editor.
Resume.io pricing, as read on October 17, 2026
Read from Resume.io's pricing page on October 17, 2026. Prices change; check the page before you pay.
| Plan | Price shown | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | $0.00 | Only one resume and cover letter; downloads only in TXT format; limited sharing and analytics |
| 7-day Trial | $2.95 | "After 7 days, auto-renews to $29.95 billed every 4 weeks" |
| Quarterly | $49.95 | "Auto-renews to $49.95 billed every 3 months" |
Both paid plans include unlimited resumes and cover letters, all premium templates and colors, and unlimited PDF downloads, with a 7-day money back guarantee. The trial gives full access; the pricing page's own FAQ says that "after 7 days if you don't cancel you are automatically subscribed to the premium monthly membership."
Three details are easy to miss. First, "monthly" is a 4-week (28-day) cycle, so you are billed 13 times a year, not 12. Second, the trial price is offered once per account. Third, the help center says pricing "can vary by location" and describes 6-month and yearly one-time plans and one-time download payments in some countries; the page we read showed only the trial and Quarterly options. As arithmetic on the listed prices: a two-month search on the trial path costs $2.95 plus two renewals at $29.95, or $62.85; the Quarterly plan works out to about $16.65 a month, and is the better deal if you know you need more than seven weeks.
Refunds are allowed only within the first 7 days of account creation, per the help center's refunds article. Cancelling stops the next charge; after a trial payment you keep access until the 7 days run out.
What users complain about
As read on these dates: Trustpilot showed TrustScore 4.2 from 56,224 reviews on October 17, 2026. The themes below recur across those reviews.
- Charges after cancelling, or charges people did not expect. This is the most common theme among unprompted reviews: reviewers say the trial rolled into a recurring charge, or that billing continued after they believed they had cancelled. One reviewer titled their post "Predatory billing — 10 months of charges after I tried to cancel"; another warned that even after cancelling, "they will be constantly trying to charge your card". (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
- A cancellation path that is hard to finish. Reviewers describe cancellation attempts that did not stick, one writing that the site "makes cancellation deliberately near-impossible, and their contact form doesn't even submit." Resume.io's own help center explains part of this: picking the offered "subscription extension" instead of completing cancellation means no cancellation is recorded. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
- Refunds refused after the 7-day window. Refund is one of Trustpilot's listed top mentions for the company, and the help center confirms the rule reviewers run into: no refund once 7 days have passed since account creation, even if you never used the premium features. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
- Slow support on billing problems. A reviewer in October 2026 wrote: "The company states that its support team typically responds within 24 hours, but I have been waiting for several days without receiving any response." (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
How OneTwo Resume compares
We make OneTwo Resume, so weigh this section accordingly. The two tools overlap on the basics (a builder, templates, an ATS score, job-description tailoring, cover letters) but are priced and organized differently.
Where OneTwo Resume differs. Our free tier includes unlimited AI rewrites and automatic ATS scoring with an online preview; downloads are on Pro. Pro unlocks per-job tailoring, cover letters and downloads for $9.99 every 2 weeks or $14.99 a month, which is less per month than Resume.io's Quarterly plan and about half its 4-week renewal price. Pro renews until you cancel it from the dashboard and we have no one-time option, so the same calendar advice applies to us.
Where Resume.io is better. Its template library is its strongest asset and a bigger focus than ours, with DOCX downloads for many designs. It has a much longer track record and a far larger user base. Premium bundles a job tracker, a job board and interview practice that we do not offer at all. If you will finish in a week, its $2.95 trial is cheaper than any paid period we sell, as long as you cancel inside the 7 days.
Who should pick which. Choose Resume.io if a polished design and Word export matter most, or if you want the tracker and interview tools in one place. Choose OneTwo Resume if your bottleneck is the writing and ATS fit of the resume itself, since that part is free with us until you need the file. You can also draft and score with us free and use whichever tool you prefer for the final layout.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Resume.io free?
Partly. The free plan ($0.00 on its pricing page, read October 17, 2026) allows only one resume and one cover letter, downloads only in TXT format, and limited sharing and analytics. An older help article (November 2024) also mentions a free PDF in one template, Vancouver, but the current pricing page lists TXT only. Designed PDF downloads in the premium templates need a paid plan. The free ATS resume checker on resume.io is free to use.
How much does Resume.io cost?
As read on resume.io/pricing on October 17, 2026: a 7-day trial for $2.95 that, in the page's words, "after 7 days, auto-renews to $29.95 billed every 4 weeks", or a Quarterly plan at $49.95 that "auto-renews to $49.95 billed every 3 months". Both carry a 7-day money back guarantee. Resume.io's help center says prices can vary by location and that 6-month, yearly or one-time options exist in some markets, so check the page in your own country.
How do I cancel Resume.io?
Per Resume.io's help center there are two ways. Without logging in: open the Contact page, choose the "Cancel Subscription" tab, look up your account by email, click the cancel button, then confirm through the email it sends you. In the app: click your profile photo (top right), choose Account Settings, and downgrade in the My Plan box at the top. Finish the flow rather than accepting the subscription extension it may offer, because an extension is not a cancellation. You should receive a confirmation email; if you do not, the cancellation may not have gone through. Cancel before the 7-day trial ends to avoid the first 4-week charge.
Can I get a refund from Resume.io?
Only early. The pricing page offers a 7-day money back guarantee, and the help center's refunds article says refunds are allowed only within the first 7 days of account creation; after that, it says, a subscription is not refundable even if you never used the premium features. If you were charged after a cancellation confirmation email, the help center says support will have its billing team review it.
Is Resume.io worth it?
For a short, deliberate sprint it can be: the builder is fast, the templates are polished and well tested, and the trial is cheap. It is worth it only if you put the cancellation in your calendar the day you pay, because the trial renews into a 4-week subscription and refunds stop after 7 days. If you expect to need it for months, the Quarterly plan is the cheaper per-month path. If you mainly want help with the wording and ATS fit of one resume, cheaper or free options exist.
Is Resume.io legit?
Yes, it is a real, long-running product: its help center says it started in 2013, and its Trustpilot page showed a TrustScore 4.2 from 56,224 reviews on October 17, 2026. The complaints there are mostly about billing and cancellation, not about the builder itself, so the practical risk is an unexpected renewal rather than a bad resume.
