Kickresume Review (2026): Pricing, Complaints, Verdict

Last updated October 17, 2026 · By Andrew Johnson · OneTwo Resume editorial team

The short answer

Kickresume is the rare resume builder whose free plan is genuinely usable: 4 basic templates with unlimited downloads, no card needed. Premium ($24 a month, $54 a quarter or $96 a year as read on October 17, 2026) adds 40+ designer templates, an AI writer and an ATS checker, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Pick it if design and a free download matter most; pick something else if you want AI help without paying, or heavy per-job tailoring, which reviewers say is its weaker side.

Method and disclosure: we make OneTwo Resume, a competing resume builder, so read this as a rival's review. Every price was read from Kickresume's own pricing page and is dated; user complaints are paraphrased from the aggregate review pages listed under Sources, with the date we read them. We do not give Kickresume a star rating of our own. No affiliate links, no paid placement.

Kickresume overview

Kickresume is a web-based resume and cover letter builder made by Kickresume s.r.o., a company based in Slovakia that hosts its data in the European Union. Its core is a template-led builder: every resume template has a matching cover letter and a personal-website template, and you can change colors, typefaces and layouts within each design. Over the last few years it has added a layer of AI on top: an AI Writer that drafts a full resume from a job title and a job ad, an AI cover letter writer, Resume Tailoring against a specific posting, translations, and an ATS resume checker that scores your file against resumes in its database.

Around the builder sit a Career Map that suggests career paths from your resume, LinkedIn and PDF import, 1,500+ resume examples, iOS and Android apps, and an optional human proofreading service. Kickresume says on its pricing page that 8,000,000 job seekers have used it. Pricing is a familiar freemium model: a free plan with basic templates and unlimited downloads, then one Premium tier sold as a monthly, quarterly or yearly subscription that renews automatically.

The product is aimed at job seekers who want a polished, designed-looking document quickly, and at students, who can get Premium free for up to 180 days with an ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS verification. It is less of a fit for people whose main problem is the words rather than the layout, because the AI that helps with wording sits entirely behind the paywall.

What Kickresume does well

A free plan you can actually finish with. Most builders in this category let you write for free and then charge at the download button. Kickresume does the opposite: the free plan includes unlimited resumes and unlimited downloads in PDF or .doc on 4 basic resume templates, with 4 matching cover letters. Premium features are labelled in the editor, so you can stay inside the free options on purpose. Its own FAQ answers “Can I download it for free?” with yes, as long as you stick to the free options, and the plan comparison table lists unlimited downloads on Free. In our pricing comparison, only Kickresume and Rezi offered a real free download.

Design depth. Premium unlocks 40+ resume templates and 40+ matching cover letter templates, 26 fonts instead of 2, and full control over colors; Kickresume claims a million design combinations. The templates are typographically careful and the resume, cover letter and website match each other, which few rivals bother to do.

AI drafting from a job ad. On Premium the AI Writer can produce a full first draft from your target job title and the posting you are answering, and the cover letter writer works from your resume. For someone staring at a blank page, that is a quick way to get something to edit.

Fair billing signals. The pricing page shows each plan's full charge (“Pay $54 every 3 months”, “Pay $96 every 12 months”) next to the monthly equivalent, there is no low-priced trial that converts into a larger charge, and every Premium plan carries a 14-day money-back guarantee. One Trustpilot reviewer titled their review “Easiest cancellation process on the Internet.”

Extras that cost others money. Students and teachers get Premium free for up to 180 days. Quarterly and yearly subscribers can gift a month of Premium to up to 3 or 5 friends, and Kickresume values the yearly gift at up to $120.

Kickresume pricing, as read on October 17, 2026

Read from Kickresume's pricing page on October 17, 2026. Prices change; check the page before you pay.

Kickresume has one free plan and one paid tier, Premium, sold in three billing periods. All prices below are in US dollars as the pricing page showed them on October 17, 2026, and they match what we recorded on September 27, 2026 for our Kickresume alternatives page, so nothing has changed since then.

  • Free, $0. 4 basic resume templates, 4 matching cover letter templates, 1 basic website template, 2 fonts, limited colors and design options, 20,000 pre-written phrases, unlimited resumes and unlimited downloads. No AI Writer and no ATS resume checker.
  • Monthly, $24 a month. Everything in Premium: 40+ resume and cover letter templates, 26 fonts, AI Writer, ATS Resume Checker, Career Map, LinkedIn and PDF import, the mobile apps, 7 website templates and priority support.
  • Quarterly, $54 every 3 months (shown as $18 a month). Marked “Save 25%” and “Most popular choice”. Same features, plus Premium gift vouchers for up to 3 friends worth up to $72.
  • Yearly, $96 every 12 months (shown as $8 a month). Same features, plus vouchers for up to 5 friends worth up to $120.

Renewal and refunds. Kickresume's terms say each plan renews automatically for another 30 days, 90 days or year unless you cancel before the current term ends, and that there are no refunds on a remaining period. The 14-day money-back guarantee applies to new users, once per user. There is no paid trial; the free plan plays that role.

Add-ons and other price lists. Human grammar correction costs $30 per resume (English and Spanish). The iPhone app lists its own in-app purchases on the App Store (Monthly Subscription $9.95, Yearly Subscription $24.95, Proofreading $27.99), and Kickresume's terms say the annual mobile subscription does not include web Premium, so check what an app purchase covers before buying there. Kickresume's help center FAQ still quotes older, lower prices ($19, $13 and $7 a month); the pricing page is the one that applies at checkout.

What users complain about

As read on these dates: Trustpilot showed TrustScore 4.6 from 3,893 reviews on October 17, 2026; App Store showed 4.7 out of 5 from 4,199 reviews on October 17, 2026; Google Play showed 4.4 out of 5 from 2,574 reviews on October 17, 2026. The themes below recur across those reviews.

  • Support that does not answer. The most detailed recent one-star review (October 2026) says emails sent from several addresses over a month got “not a single” reply, and an August review calls customer service “always unresponsive”. Kickresume replies publicly to these reviews and says its team answers within 24 hours. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
  • Refunds and money after cancelling. Low ratings include a refund request from a reviewer who had already cancelled, and another saying support was “reluctant to extend used or refund”. In the October case Kickresume replied that the refund had been issued. Its terms promise the 14-day money-back guarantee once per user and no refunds on a remaining period after that. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
  • AI tailoring and translation that drop content. One reviewer found that Resume Tailoring works only from Kickresume's converted copy of an uploaded PDF, so details lost in the import never come back; Kickresume confirmed some information “may not be parsed”. Another reviewer hit a cap on AI tailoring, which Kickresume says is an anti-abuse limit support can lift, and a June review calls the translations “really bad”, with whole parts of text missing. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
  • Too little layout control. Reviewers ask for control over margins, bold text and section spacing, and even some positive reviews wish the templates were “more flexible”. One reviewer leaving for this reason also says support told them a full export of their account data was not possible. (Trustpilot, read on October 17, 2026)
  • Mobile app bugs. Recent one-star reviews shown on the Google Play listing describe a paid user whose files showed as corrupt in the app while the desktop site worked, and an editor that jumps back a screen on every autosave, losing text being typed. (Google Play, read on October 17, 2026)

How OneTwo Resume compares

We make OneTwo Resume, so weigh this section accordingly. The two products put the free line in opposite places. Kickresume gives you the file for free and charges for AI; we give you the AI for free and charge for the file. On our free plan you get unlimited AI resume improvements, automatic ATS scoring and an online preview; downloading, per-job tailoring and cover letters are on Pro, at $9.99 every 2 weeks or $14.99 a month, renewing until you cancel from the dashboard. We have no one-time option either.

Where Kickresume is the better choice. If you need a finished, downloadable resume today and do not want to pay anything, Kickresume's free plan beats ours outright: unlimited downloads on 4 templates against our paid downloads. It also has far more visual design (40+ templates with matching cover letters and websites), mobile apps, a human proofreading service, free Premium for students, and a much longer track record than ours. And if you plan to use a builder for a year, its yearly plan at $96 costs less over twelve months than staying on our monthly Pro.

Where OneTwo Resume may fit better. If the hard part is the wording, you can rewrite and re-score your resume as many times as you like on our free plan before deciding whether to pay, whereas every AI feature at Kickresume needs Premium. For a short, intense search, our 2-week Pro at $9.99 is a smaller commitment than Kickresume's $24 month. And per-job tailoring is a core part of our Pro plan, while tailoring is the area where Kickresume's Trustpilot complaints cluster.

A practical middle path: build and download a clean version in Kickresume's free plan, then run the file through our free ATS resume checker to see what to fix. Neither step costs anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kickresume free?

Partly, and more usefully than most. As read on Kickresume's pricing page on October 17, 2026, the free plan costs $0 and includes 4 basic resume templates, 4 matching cover letter templates, 1 basic website template, 2 fonts, unlimited resumes and unlimited downloads (PDF or .doc). It does not include the AI writer, the ATS resume checker or the 40+ premium templates. Students and teachers verified through ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS get Premium free for up to 180 days.

How much does Kickresume cost?

As read on October 17, 2026: Premium is $24 a month on the monthly plan, $54 every 3 months on the quarterly plan ($18 a month), or $96 every 12 months on the yearly plan ($8 a month). All three renew automatically. Human proofreading is a separate $30 per resume. Those prices are unchanged from our previous check on September 27, 2026.

How do I cancel Kickresume?

Kickresume's help article says to go to Account Settings, then Subscriptions & Billing, and click Cancel Subscription. Premium stays active to the end of the period you paid for and then the account drops to the free plan, keeping your resumes. Cancel before the term ends: monthly plans renew for 30 days, quarterly for 90 days and yearly for a year. If you subscribed through the iPhone or Android app, cancel in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings instead. Refunds beyond the one-time 14-day money-back guarantee are not offered under its terms.

Does Kickresume use AI?

Yes, on Premium. Kickresume's AI Writer can draft a whole resume from a job title and the job ad, there is an AI cover letter writer that Kickresume describes as GPT-4.1 powered, plus Resume Tailoring, translation and an ATS resume checker. None of the AI tools are on the free plan, which instead offers 20,000 pre-written phrases you can insert by hand.

Does Kickresume have a money-back guarantee?

Yes. The pricing page lists a 14-day money back guarantee on all three Premium plans. Its terms limit it to new users and to once per user; after that, cancelling stops the next renewal but does not refund the current period.

Is Kickresume worth it?

For a free, good-looking resume, yes: few builders let you download without limit at no cost. Premium is worth it mainly if you want the larger template library and AI drafting, and it is cheapest on the yearly plan ($96 every 12 months) if you can use it that long. For a short search, the $24 monthly plan is pricier than several rivals, and if your priority is rewriting and tailoring for many jobs, a tool built around that may fit better.
